Wilson Named SWAC Football Newcomer Of The Year

Texas Southern quarterback Jace Wilson was named the 2023 Football Newcomer of the Year by the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The sophomore from Missouri City, Texas was thrusted into the starting role during week two and took advantage of the opportunity as he passed for 1,633 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season as a Tigers. Wilson had two games with three touchdown passes versus Grambling State and Florida A&M while also throwing for a season-best 288 yards on 17-of-23 passing against Alcorn State.
This marks the second time since 2019 that TSU has had a student-athlete achieve SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors.
