Volleyball Drops Heartbreaker In Five Sets To PVAMU In SWAC Tournament

The Texas Southern volleyball team loss a 3-2 heartbreaker to Prairie View A&M in the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball Tournament Friday evening at the William Nicks Building.

TSU dropped the match with set scores: 29-27, 25-23, 19-25, 15-25, 12-15.

No. 7 Texas Southern faced the No. 1 seed Prairie View A&M and battled it out to five sets.  The Tigers were up by as much as 7-4 in the fifth set but could not hold on.

The Tigers were paced offensively by freshman Kennedy Reed who had a career-high 20 kills while adding 10 digs for a double-double. Ava Ray had a double-double as well with 23 assists and 10 digs, while Ryan Henderson led the defense with 16 digs. 

Inside the Numbers
> Texas Southern finished with a .234 hitting percentage (58 kills, 22 errors, 154 attacks)
> Prairie View recorded a .249 hitting percentage (68 kills, 26 errors, 169 attacks)
> Texas Southern registered 49 assists, 65 digs, 14.0 total team blocks and five service aces
> PVAMU tallied 64 assists, 68 digs, 12.0 total team blocks and 13 service aces
