Tigers Look To Sweep Season Series Against Grambling

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will look to sweep the season series against Grambling State as the team will face them inside the H&PE Arena on Saturday at 3 p.m.

•Texas Southern (5-17 Overall, 4-7 SWAC) is coming off a 65-64 road win against Bethune Cookman on Monday as the team found its way to the charity stripe in the dwindling seconds to get the victory.

•For the second game in a row, Jordyn Turner paced the Tigers with a double double as she tallied 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from both the field and the charity stripe. Additionally, she added 11 boards. Nya Harmon followed up with 15 points.

•Turner was tabbed the SWAC Women’s Basketball Impact Player of the Week for her stellar performance.

•Grambling State (14-8, 8-3) is currently on a three-game winning streak with its last win being, 69-52 over Alabama A&M University Monday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

•TSU leads the all-time series since 2012-13, 18-10. Texas Southern won the first match-up this year, 72-67.

•Grambling was predicted to finish eighth in the SWAC Preseason Poll. •GSU is led by DeMya Young who is averaging 10.8 points per game.

•The Tigers are led offensively by Taniyah Lawson as she averages 10.6 points and 3.0 boards.

•Jaida Belton is the fourth leading blocker in the SWAC having 35 in 22 games played.

•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.
