Brown, Duty Have Strong Running Performances In Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Freshmen Alyvia Brown and McKenna Duty both finished in the top 25 as Texas Southern women’s cross country finished fifth at the Lake Charles Toyota McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
 
Brown finished 18th overall in the 5K event as she completed the race in a time of 19:51.77 while Duty finished 24th in a time of 24:07.97. Jessica Williams finished third on the team after a run of 20:31.85 followed by Arianna May and Kayla Jenkins.
 
TSU had an opportunity to compete against a pair of SWAC opponents in the event and get an early look at the competition for next month’s cross country championships as they finished ahead of Southern and Prairie View A&M.
 
The is back in action Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Clifton Gilliard Invitational at Prairie View A&M.
