Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up SWAC Outdoor Championship

BATON ROUGE, La. – The TSU women’s track & field team finished seventh overall at the 2024 SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Southern University on Saturday.
 
TSU started the night with a strong outing in the 400 as Shelby Brooks placed third followed by Bayli George’s sixth-place performance. Jessica Williams picked up points in the 5,000 as she placed seventh while the 4×100-meter relay placed sixth. Desirae Roberts capped off her first year at TSU with a fifth-place outing in the 400-meter hurdles while the mile relay closed out the meet with a third-place run of 3:43.61.
 
In the field events, Alexis Wilson finished third in the triple jump while Gianna Trotter placed fourth in the discus followed by Angela Sanchez’s eighth-place finish.
 
TSU finished seventh overall with 53 points.
 
Several individuals will await their next destination as the NCAA West Regionals will take place in Fayetteville, Ark. from May 22-25.
