Volleyball Takes on UT Arlington At Home

The Texas Southern volleyball team is back in action at home as they prepare to take on UT Arlington on Tuesday at 6 p.m at the H&PE Arena.

The contest will be streamed on the TSU Athletics Youtube Channel.

Texas Southern (0-10) is coming into the competition after being swept in the North Florida Invitational by North Florida, Charlotte and Louisiana. Junior Chenise Cook was named to the all-tournament team as she registered 12 kills in a gallant effort. 

The Tigers are led offensively by Kennedy Reed who has 60 kills this season, followed by Amber Johnson with 54, and Gracie Hill with 53. Setter Dallas Balanay-Flores paces TSU with 147 assists while freshman Ryan Henderson tallied 107 digs in the season.

SERIES HISTORY
•Texas Southern and UT Arlington have met up twice as UTA is 2-0 in the series.
•The last time these two teams met was in 2014. UTA won 3-1.
•This will be the first time the Tigers will play host to UTA. 
•The Universities are separated by 260 miles.

SCOUTING REPORT: 
UTA (7-2) comes in to the match after going 1-2 in the Tulsa Invitational. The Mavericks dropped matches to Central Arkansas and Tulsa, while beating Oral Roberts 3-0. UTA is paced offensively by Brianna Ford who has 112 kills this season, followed by Briana Brown with 96 and Jalie Tritt with 85. Mollie Blank leads in assists with 281, while Alli Wells registered 137 digs this season.

UP NEXT
Texas Southern will participate in the Tarleton State Tournament beginning on Friday at 10 a.m. against UC Riverside, followed by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 2 p.m. The Tigers will conclude the tournament on Saturday as they take on Tarleton State at 2 p.m. All matches will be played at the Wisdom Volleyball gym in Stephenville, Texas.
