Men’s Basketball Announces 2023-24 Non-Conference Slate

Seven NCAA Tournament participants, a return trip to Las Vegas and a pair of home contests highlights the 2023-24 Texas Southern men’s basketball non-conference schedule.
 
The season kicks off on Monday, Nov. 6 in Albuquerque, N.M. as TSU will face the University of New Mexico inside The Pit for the first time since 2015. The Lobos participated in the NIT last season.  After its trip to New Mexico, TSU will begin a swing which features six consecutive teams which appeared in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
 
On Saturday, Nov. 11, TSU heads west once again for a rematch against Arizona State as the Tigers will face the Sun Devils for the fourth time in six seasons. TSU will make a trip to Charlottesville, Va. on Thursday, Nov. 16 for a contest at the University of Virginia which will mark the first meeting in series history between both institutions.
 
A contest at Creighton on Saturday, Nov. 18 kicks off a four-game Midwest swing as the Tigers will travel to Omaha, Neb. for the first time since 2015. Three days later, TSU travels to Tulsa, Okla. as they’ll face Oral Roberts for the second straight season on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Following the Thanksgiving holiday, the Tigers will head north to Des Moines, Ia. four days later for a meeting against Drake on Saturday, Nov. 25. TSU will square off against the Bulldogs for the first time since 2010. The Midwest swing will conclude on Tuesday, Nov. 28 in West Lafayette, Ind. as TSU squares off against Purdue for the first time since 2007.
 
The Tigers will take a much-needed break for final exams as they won’t return to action until Saturday, Dec. 16 as they return to Las Vegas, Nev. for the annual HBCU Challenge. TSU will face North Carolina A&T State for the second straight year on Dec. 16 before closing out the challenge against 2023 MEAC Champion Howard University on Sunday, Dec. 17 as a venue will be announced shortly.
 
TSU will hold its first home contest of 2023 on Thursday, Dec. 21 as they’ll host Samford. Non-conference play will conclude on Thursday, Dec. 28 as the Tigers will host The College of Biblical Studies-Houston (CBS – Houston).
