Track & Field Prepares For Finals Of SWAC Championship On Saturday

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Texas Southern men’s track & field team remain at the top of the leaderboard while the women’s team had several strong outings in the sprints after day two of the 2024 SWAC Championship at Southern University.
 
Blaine Nunn placed third in the shot put as he logged a mark of 51-7 feet, TSU also received points from Jalen Walker’s ninth-place throw of 46-0.75 feet.
 
Hilton Smith (14.77) and Donyea Jarmon (14.64) both qualified for the 110-meter hurdles finals on Saturday. Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington clinched a spot in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles along with the duo of Isaac Henderson (10.18) and Chaunzavia Lewis (10.39) in the 100-meter dash. Brandon Washington (1:54.67) qualified for the 800-meter finals (1:54.67) while David Livingston finished second (9:53.70) after a tight race in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
 
On the women’s side, Shelby Brooks and Bayli George both qualified for the finals of the 400-meter run as they finished in third and seventh-place, respectively.
 
The finals will be streamed at 5 p.m. live on the SWAC Digital Network
