Berger, Gonzales, Johnson Named Second Team All-SWAC

GULFPORT, Miss. – The Texas Southern softball trio of Maren Berger, Paris Johnson and Madalyn Gonzales were named to the 2024 All-SWAC Second Team on the eve of the 2024 SWAC Tournament.
 
Johnson made her presence felt immediately as a freshman as she led TSU in batting average (.419), slugging percentage (.523), runs scored (24), hits (36), stolen bases (20) and total bases (45). The Mansfield, Texas native also ranked second overall in the SWAC in batting.
 
Berger, a Snowflake, Ariz., native, also had a successful debut season as a freshman as TSU’s pitching leader in ERA (2.00), wins (7), appearances (16) and was second in strikeouts (44).
 
Gonzales was just as dominant on the mound as the senior from Lorena, Texas led TSU with 53 strikeouts and was second in wins (6), ERA (2.23) and innings pitched (69).
 
All three student-athletes and the Lady Tigers are back in action against Bethune-Cookman at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. All games will be streamed via the SWAC Digital Network with live stats on TSUSports.com.
