Final Results
HOUSTON - The Texas Southern Tigers and Lady Tigers competed at the Houston Invitational. The meet was hosted by University of Houston this past weekend at the Yeoman Field House. The meet consisted of teams from the state of Texas.

The Lady Tigers performed well in their track events, placing in the top 10 in five events. Alexis Gray finished sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.57s. TSU also performed well in the 200m dash having three student-athletes place in the top 10, Gray came in second (24.27s), Zaidra James was fifth (25.81s, and right behind her in sixth was Nikole Haroon (25.89s).

Haroon also placed fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 59s and James placed eighth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.73s. The Lady Tigers' 4x400m relay finished fourth overall with a time of 4:00.57s, the quartet is made up of Haroon, Dashavonta Kinney, Gray, and Morgan Utsey-Williams.

TSU's field event athletes excelled as well, placing sixth in high jump by Quintella Johnson (1.60m) and ninth in shot put by Christelle Nintcheu (12.20m).

The men's track team also shined in this weekend's invitational placing in the top ten in six track events and five field events. Texas Southern's Roman Turner thrashed the competition by placing first in the 60m dash with a time of 6.77s.

Behind him was Jordee Archer Harvey in fourth place with a time of 6.80s. Jacob Price positioned eighth in the 800m run (1:57.43s), while Jorge Marinez took home third in the 5000m run (15:29.96s) and fourth in the mile run (4:30.56s).

David Guzman kept the Tigers' spirits high by placing eighth in the 5000m run, and Maliek Kendall performed well positioning sixth overall in the 60m hurdles. The Tigers' 4x400m relay finished third overall with a time of 3:24.16. The foursome consisted of Darius Birden, Bonshaye Bolden, Price, and Tarique Fisher.

The Tigers' field events also performed well having Harvey Kendall place second overall in high jump (2.00m) and sixth in triple jump (14.16m). Taylor Levine finished eighth (1.90m) overall in high jump, and second in long jump (6.73m). Tevin Kimble who took part in the long jump invitational finished eighth (6.49m) against some great competition. Lastly, Terrell Perry placed 10th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.76m.

Both teams will compete again next Saturday, February 3rd, in the J.D Martin Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
