The TSU men’s track & field team had several athletes have strong outings as they had participants in both the PV and Victor Lopez Classic this past weekend.

VICTOR LOPEZ CLASSIC
Brandon Washington ran the SWAC’s fastest time in the 800 while Jaden Brooks had a pair of top-10 finishes in the discus and javelin at the Victor Lopez Relays.

Washington ran the fastest time in the SWAC with a 1:52.55 as he placed 10th in the 800 on Saturday. Jaden Brooks placed sixth in the discus with a career-best 152-3 and eighth in the javelin after another career-best length of 170-2.

PV RELAYS
Four athletes claimed individual titles at the annual PV Relays on Saturday.

Chaunzavia Lewis won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.56 while Issac Henderson and William Perry finished second and fourth, respectively.

Lewis finished third in the 200 (21.78) while Henderson placed fourth (21.79). Donyea Jarmon finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best mark of 14.54 followed by Chaunkiveon Lewis’ fifth-place finish.

Hilton Smith finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles while the 4×100-meter relay of Trevon Ridley, Chaunkiveon Lewis, Perry and Henderson won the 4×100-meter relay.

Turey Stoudmire jumped a career-best 7-0.5 feet to win the high jump and posted a career-best mark of 21-4.75 in the long jump. Adam Hines, Joshua Goslee and Ian Charles finished 1-2-3 in the pole vault while Donyae Castaneda won the long jump (23-2.75). Ahmad Muhammad and Hilton Smith finished 2-3 in the triple jump while Donovan Brooks and Tyree Newman placed fourth and fifth in the shot put. Malachi Byrd and Jaylen Johnson went 2-3 in the discus while Brooks placed fourth in the javelin.

The team is back in action at the annual Texas Relays next weekend.
