MISSOULA. Mt. – The Texas Southern soccer team heads to the state of Montana for a historic trip as they’ll face the University of Montana Friday afternoon.

ESPN+ will broadcast Friday’s game as this will mark the first-ever matchup between TSU and Montana and Montana’s first-ever matchup against a team from the SWAC.

TSU is coming off a 2-0 loss to UTRGV last Friday night and continues its long road stand as the next seven games will take place away from Houston. Freshman Hayden McMillan and Ari Mendez both lead TSU with four shots each while all three goalies in Jaidyn Christophe, Alexis Espino and Oriana Palacios have saw action.

EDINBURG, Texas – The TSU volleyball program is back in action Friday and Saturday as they’ll participate in the UTRGV Tournament.

TSU will open with Louisiana of the Sun Belt Conference Friday at 3 p.m. before returning to action Saturday with a pair of games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Southland) at 11 a.m. and host UTRGV (WAC) at 5 p.m.

The Tigers are coming off an 0-3 swing at the Wildcat Classic in Abilene, Texas but closed out the tournament on a positive note as they took Abilene Christian to the wire in the tourney finale.

Danielle Lilley ranks fourth in the SWAC with 2.5 kills per set while Chenise Cook ranks sixth in hitting percentage. Aeris Ramsey ranks second in assists and sixth in service aces while Thalia Cordero Moreno is the league’s second-leading scorer in points.

The UTRGV match will be streamed to ESPN+ while Louisiana and A&M-Corpus Christi contests will be streamed to the WAC Digital Network (WACDigitalNetwork.com).

HOUSTON – The TSU cross country teams are both in action Friday evening at the Rice Invitational on the Rice University campus.

Friday’s meet will mark the 2021 season debut for the defending SWAC Champion men’s team while the women are back in action after participating at the McNeese Invite in Lake Charles, La. last weekend.

The men are running their first meet since 2019 as the SWAC did not hold a cross country season in 2020-21. The women’s team looks to build on their finish from last week as junior Briana Creeks was named the SWAC’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The field will be loaded as 12 teams are scheduled to attend. The women run first at 6:15 p.m. (4K) while the men will run a 6K at 6:45 p.m.
