BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third time this season, Texas Southern guard Joyce Kennerson has been recognized as the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week after her standout performances during games played Feb. 10-12.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week – Joyce Kennerson, Texas Southern
G | 5-4 | Jr. | Port Arthur, Texas

Kennerson averaged 25.5 points and 4.0 assists per game to lead the Lady Tigers to an undefeated weekend at home with wins over Jackson State and Grambling State. The junior from Port Arthur, Texas also shot 47 percent (7-of-15) from 3-point range, and 91 percent (20-of-22) from the free throw line.

She eclipsed the 1,400 career point plateau with a 26-point effort in Saturday's win over Jackson State. In doing so, she surpassed June Hardy (1983-87) for third all-time on TSU's scoring list. Kennerson was 13-of-14 from the free throw line, and also handed out five assists against Jackson State.

In Monday's win over Grambling, Kennerson poured in 25 points, which included a 4-of-7 showing from 3-point range and a 7-of-8 evening night at the line. She also added three assists and five rebounds in the win over Grambling.

Kennerson -- who is tied for second in the nation in scoring at 24.4 points per game -- is on pace to assume second place on Texas Southern's all-time scoring list by season's end and could become the Lady Tigers' all-time scoring leader in the NCAA era.
