HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Texas Southern basketball teams wrap up its latest road trip at Alabama A&M Monday night in Elmore Gymnasium on the AAMU campus. Both games can be viewed on AAMU YouTube and heard on KTSU 90.9 FM with Lary “Chattabox” Hale calling the action around 5:15 p.m.

On the women’s side, TSU’s 16-game winning streak over AAMU came to an end last month in Houston as injuries on the TSU side took a roll. Even though injuries are still affecting the TSU roster, they’ve received solid play from the backcourt of Ataiya Bridges, Quatera Limbrick and Jenay Bojorquez as TSU has won two of its past three games and was close to knocking off second-place Alabama State Saturday afternoon.

With the upcoming SWAC Tournament in two weeks, TSU is playing to solidify seeding at this point. A win from this point helps out TSU as Prairie View A&M and Mississippi Valley State are on its heels with only three games left in the regular season.

The TSU men have eight of the past nine are looking to keep the momentum going Monday night.

TSU has dominated the series against Alabama A&M recently as the Tigers have won 15 straight and 26 of the past 27 match-ups. AAMU’s last win over TSU was on Feb. 1, 2014. However, the ball tends to fall in AAMU’s favor inside Elmore Gymnasium as nearly every game in Huntsville has come down to the wire. One thing TSU can count on is that senior forward Justin Hopkins won’t have to be motivated as the Huntsville native returns home.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will have a short week from this point as they’ll return home Tuesday and prepare for games on Thursday and Saturday as SWAC Tournament play is set for next week in Birmingham, Ala.
