HOUSTON- Texas Southern guard Derrick Bruce erupted for 37 points as the TSU Tigers men's basketball team defeated Alabama State 95-77 at the HPE Arena.
The Tigers improved to 10-6 in SWAC play and kept their hopes for a regular season title alive with the win.

Texas Southern took a commanding 46-29 lead into the break sparked by the hot shooting hands of Demontrae Jefferson and Bruce.

Jefferson finished the game with 34 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in what was a complete all-around game for him on both ends of the floor.

With losses by Grambling State and Jackson State the Tigers once again find themselves in the hunt for a SWAC regular season championship.

If the Tigers can win out coupled with a loss by Grambling State, TSU could clinch a share of the regular season crown.

Texas Southern travels to face the Southern Jaguars on Thursday, March 1st at 7:30 pm in what will be a pivotal league match-up for both teams.
