HOUSTON- Texas Southern guard Derrick Bruce erupted for 37 points as the TSU Tigers men's basketball team defeated Alabama State 95-77 at the HPE Arena.
The Tigers improved to 10-6 in SWAC play and kept their hopes for a regular season title alive with the win.
Texas Southern took a commanding 46-29 lead into the break sparked by the hot shooting hands of Demontrae Jefferson and Bruce.
Jefferson finished the game with 34 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in what was a complete all-around game for him on both ends of the floor.
With losses by Grambling State and Jackson State the Tigers once again find themselves in the hunt for a SWAC regular season championship.
If the Tigers can win out coupled with a loss by Grambling State, TSU could clinch a share of the regular season crown.
