TSUSports.com: Tigers fall to Alcorn State 24-17

HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers dropped a 24-17 decision to the Alcorn State Braves on Friday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.


TSU cut the Braves lead to 10 points at the 4:58 mark of the 4th quarter on a Aaron Cuevas 49 yard field goal.


After allowing one first down on Alcorn State's ensuing drive the Tigers defense would force a Braves punt with under two minutes remaining.


TSU was unable to find the end zone prior to time expiring in the games' final stanza.


Making his first collegiate start TSU quarterback Dominic DeLira went 23-of-43 for 183 yards with one interception.


The Tigers tallied 295 yards of total offense while Alcorn State amassed 485 yards.


TSU's Sean Jones led the Tigers in tackles for the game with 12 stops.


Texas Southern will travel to face Kennesaw State on Saturday, October 14 in their final non-conference game of the season.
