NORMAN, Okla. – The Tigers of Texas Southern University took an early lead but it did not hold up as Oklahoma claimed a 10-2 win Tuesday.

The second game of the two-game series scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled due to weather conditions that made the game unplayable.

Texas Southern went ahead 1-0 in the top of the third inning when Oscar Ponce singled home Austin Garcia from second base. Garcia led off the inning with a single and then moved to second on Victor Cruz' groundout.

Alex Olguin took the loss for the Tigers despite shutting out the Sooners for the first four innings of Tuesday's game. OU tied the game in the fifth and then added three more runs in the sixth inning.

Trailing 6-1, the Tigers added another run in the top of the eighth when they loaded the bases and Olajide Oloruntimilehin was hit by a pitch. Both Ponce and Oloruntimilehin had two base hits in the game.

Oklahoma added four more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Tigers return to action Friday when they open a three-game series at Lipscomb in Nashville, Tenn. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
