NEW ORLEANS, La. – Texas Southern defeated Jackson State 8-6 in game seven of the SWAC baseball tournament. Christian Sanchez hit a walk-off home run in the tenth inning to give Texas Southern the win.
Jackson State would take the early lead. Jesus Santana would hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning, to give JSU the 1-0 lead.
Texas Southern would start to take control in the second. Christian Sanchez hit a three-run homer to give TSU the 3-1 advantage after two.
In the fourth, Charles Guillory hit a two-run home run to extend TSU's lead. Texas Southern would add another run in the fifth. Ryan Jackson would ground out to second, which allowed a run to score, making the score 6-1 in favor of TSU after five innings.
The game would remain 6-1 in favor of Texas Southern until the seventh. Jackson State would start to rally in that frame.
JSU would score two runs in the seventh. Bryce Brown would hit a two RBI single that would allow both of the runs to score, and make the score 6-3.
JSU would continue the rally in the ninth. Brown would hit a solo home run to pull Jackson State within one. JSU would tie the game on a throwing error by Texas Southern to send the game to extra innings.
