The Texas Southern University men's basketball team received a dose of good news as senior forward Eden Ewing has been granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Ewing joined the Tigers last season in mid-December after transferring from Purdue University and made an immediate impact at forward as he averaged 9.3 points, seven rebounds and 1.2 assists in 29 games. The 6-8, 225-pound Houston native scored in double figures in 16 games last season while grabbing 10-plus rebounds in eight contests. Ewing's presence provides the Tigers with an experienced veteran interior piece in Coach Johnny Jones' system.

"We are extremely excited about the news that we received today from our Compliance Department about Eden's situation," said Jones. "Eden has done everything we have asked him to do and has continued to work hard throughout this process."

Prior to his time at Purdue, Ewing was a highly coveted recruit at Tyler Junior College for Head Coach Mitch Marquis, averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 rebounds. He led TJC to a first-place finish in the Region XIV North Zone as the team finished 24-5. Ewing is a product of Fort Bend Bush High School as the Broncos were one of the top teams in the state during his tenure.
