
The TSU men’s track team had 13 top-10 performances at the 18th Annual J Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet at Rice University on Saturday.
Javan Martin finished eighth in the 100 after a time of 10.82 while Davyon Henderson placed 10th in the 400 after running a personal best of 48.53. Brandon Washington finished fifth in the 800 in a time of 1:52.82 while Hilary Maiyo moved up to fifth in the SWAC in the 5,000 after recording a time of 15:31.04.
Karon Bain earned a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (15.01) followed by Malachi Byrd’s ninth-place finish of 15.12. Luis Delreal placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run steeplechase as he finished in a time of 9:31.74 which is the SWAC’s second-best time.
Adedeji Adeyeye finished third in the high jump with a mark of 6-5 while Kenneth Pree (23-9) and Donyae Castaneda (23-6) finished sixth and eighth in the long jump, respectively. Chadrick Williams finished second in the triple jump while Christian Lewis placed fifth (47-0.25). Hezekiah Freeman threw a mark of 49-11.25 to place 10th in the shot put while newcomer Jack Nance moved into the SWAC’s top 10 (ninth) after a throw of 43-2.5.
Chadrick Williams finished sixth in the javelin as he moved up to sixth in the SWAC after a throw of 150-3.
TSU is back in action at the 2022 SWAC Outdoor Championships in Prairie View, Texas on May 5-7.
