TSUSports.com: Men’s Track & Field Wins 3 Titles, Has Strong Showing At Rice

Turey Stoudmire, Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington and Chadrick Williams won their respective events as the TSU men’s track & field team wrapped up action at the J Fred Duckett Twilight Meet.

William Perry (11.17) and Donyea Jarmon (11.17) finished 8-9 in the 100 while Chaunzavia Lewis ran a 10.47 to place third in the evening session. Isaac Henderson placed ninth in the evening session after running 10.75.

Lewis place second overall in the 200 after a time of 21.77 followed by Henderson’s third-place run of 21.8. Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington won the 400 after posting a career-best mark of 47.64. Michael Strange, Jr. also posted a career-best in the event as he finished with a third-place time of 48.77. Brandon Washington completed the 800 in a time of 1:52.23 to finish eighth in the evening session.

Tyree Newman ran a career-best 15.55 to place fourth in the morning session of the 110-meter hurdles while Donovan Brooks placed eighth with a career-best time of 16.2. In the evening session, Donyae Jarmon (14.83) and Malachi Byrd (15.72) placed fifth and 10th, respectively. David Livingston finished 10th in the 3,000-steeplechase with a career-best mark of 10:08.47.

The 4×100-meter relay was on the verge of a record-time but a dropped to ninth (49.58) after a bad exchange.

Turey Stoudmire won the high jump with a mark of 7-0-5 while Adam Hines cleared 15-5.5 feet to place second in the pole vault. Donyae Castaneda placed fourth in the long jump after recording a mark of 23-6 while Chadrick Williams won the triple jump with a length of 47-10.5 feet. Ahmad Muhammad also placed seventh in the event as he jumped 45-7.

Jalen Walker (49-6.5) and Blaine Nunn (49-5) placed eighth and ninth, respectively in the shot put while Jaden Brooks (153-6), Walker (149-7), Donovan Brooks (137-5), Kellen Garion and Swazi Gurnell (135-6) placed fourth, seventh, ninth and 10th. Walker threw a SWAC-best distance of 175-5 feet to place seventh in the hammer. Jaden Brooks wrapped up the field events as he placed 10th in the hammer after a throw of 155-3.

TSU is back in action in two weeks at the SWAC Championships in Baton Rouge, La.
