RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The Texas Southern men’s golf team is in third place following the opening round of the inaugural Hornet Invitational hosted by Alabama State University. 18 mile per hour wind gusts could not deter the Tigers’ efforts Monday.

Junior Kci Lindskog and freshman Matt Vanhoy lead the way for the Tigers after finishing 4-over-par on 76 and are currently tied in 4th place. Junior Liam O’Rourke is two strokes back on 78 and currently tied in 10th place. Junior Ravepon Kosalutta is one stroke back on 79 and tied for 12th place. Sophomore Darian Faust is 4 strokes back.

The Hornet Invitational is hosted at Grand Reserve Golf Club and the tournament format includes 54 holes over three days. The second round begins Wednesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
