LAKE CHARLES, La. – Texas Southern dropped a 3-0 volleyball decision at McNeese State on Tuesday night.

Tied at 13-all in set one, McNeese State created separation with a 7-1 run to lead 20-14 before a pair of kills from Jada Hall and Dallas Balanay-Flores to stop the run. However, McNeese State would close out the set with five straight points to claim a 25-16 win in the opening set.

TSU would lead 10-8 in set two and extended the lead to three points at 12-9 after a pair of McNeese State errors. The Cowgirls tied it with three straight points and began a back-and-forth affair with four ties over the next few plays. Tied at 15-all, McNeese State would score four straight until a Caitlyn Roland kill stalled the run. Both teams would trade points but the set would go to McNeese State ultimately after they scored five of the next six to win set two 25-18.

TSU battled back from a 5-1 deficit in set three and closed to within 7-4 following a McNeese State attack error. A pair of TSU errors would send the momentum back to McNeese State as they scored five of the next six points. TSU couldn’t climb out of the hole as McNeese State closed out the match 25-13.

Hall led TSU with five kills while Aeris Ramsey and Balanay-Flores both had nine assists. Nia Ford led TSU with nine digs.

TSU will play at home for the first time in 2021 on Thursday night against Tarleton State at 6:30 p.m. The match is tentatively scheduled to be played in the TSU Student Recreation Center.
