RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The Texas Southern men’s golf team posted an even-par 288 to finish in third place following the final round of the inaugural Hornet Invitational hosted by Alabama State University Thursday.

The Tigers had a three-day total of 897 (309 – 300 – 288) which placed third while North Carolina Central University (305 – 293 – 290) and Alabama State (307 – 289 – 292) were co-champions as both posted an 888.


Junior Kci Lindskog posted the tournament-low round of 5-under-par 67 in his final round to finish in second place individually. Lindskog carded a bogey-free round which included five birdies and 13 pars to give him a three-day total of 217 (76 – 74 – 67), two shots shy of the winner.

Freshman Matthew Vanhoy posted a one-over-par round 73 to finish tied for seventh with a 224 (76 – 75 – 73). Junior Liam O’Rourke came in ninth place, two strokes back on 226 (78 – 76 – 72). O’Rouke carded an even-par final round which included three birdies, 12 pars, and three bogeys. Sophomore Darian Faust posted a three-day total of 234 (83 – 75 – 76) to finish tied for 15th. Teammate Ravepon Kosalutta was one stroke back on 235 (79 – 78 – 78) in 17th place.

The Hornet Invitational was hosted at Grand Reserve Golf Club with a 54-hole tournament format over three days. The Tigers return to action April 7-9 as they will compete in the Nicholls State Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State University in Kinder, La.
