VICTORIA, Texas – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University swept a doubleheader at Houston–Victoria on Tuesday, avenging a doubleheader sweep from the Jaguars earlier this season.

Texas Southern won the opening game by a score of 8-1, and then claimed a comeback 11-7 victory over the Jaguars in the second game.

The Lady Tigers (14-22, 10-0 SWAC) return to Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend when they visit Arkansas–Pine Bluff. First pitch in Friday's opener is scheduled for 3 p.m.

GAME ONE: Lady Tigers 8, UH–Victoria 1
The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and then added four insurance runs in the final inning to take the opening game of the doubleheader. TSU's Madi Marek – a native of Victoria – opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the third inning.

Danielle Sonnier knocked a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Lauryn Banks highlighted the late rally in the seventh with a two-RBI single. Banks scored in the sixth inning when she came home on Marissa Padron's RBI double.

Destiny Ricks picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers, tossing four and one-third innings and striking out four batters. Bailey Daniels entered the game in the fifth and stanched a UHV rally and earned her first save of the season. Daniels allowed only one hit during her appearance.

GAME TWO: Lady Tigers 11, UH–Victoria 7
The Lady Tigers posted a pair of five-run innings, none bigger than the five-run seven that capped the comeback win.

Marek, Haley Castro, and Tevanae Tate each knocked home runs for the Lady Tigers in the second game. Tate hit her two-run blast in the top of the seventh inning.

Naomi Reyes picked up the win in relief for the Lady Tigers.
