HOUSTON -- Texas Southern dropped its season opener at Houston Baptist in straight sets Friday morning.
The contest was originally scheduled to be the opening round of HBU's Barcelona Classic, but Hurricane Harvey forced cancellation of the rest of the tournament.

After falling behind 9-3 in set one, TSU inched back into it with a quick 3-1 burst aided by HBU miscues. However, the early deficit was too much to overcome for the Lady Tigers, who ultimately dropped the set 25-16.

Texas Southern started much better in set two as Nicole Robinson, Alexis Austin and Tiarra Moore each netted a kill to push the Lady Tigers to an 8-5 advantage. The Lady Huskies turned it around in their favor with an 11-1 run -- with five of those points coming via TSU attack errors -- powering their way to a 2-0 lead in the match. From there, HBU cruised to victory after opening up set three with nine unanswered points.

Robinson led TSU with seven kills on a .462 hit percentage to go with five blocks (four assisted).

The Lady Tigers will return to action next weekend when they travel to Beaumont for three matches at the Lamar Cardinal Classic.
