The Texas Southern baseball team concluded a three games series against Incarnate Word going 0-3 in San Antonio, Texas as Jaden Jones highlighted the weekend hitting his second homer of the season.


Game 1: UIW 11, TSU 4
Texas Southern and Incarnate Word each plated two runs in the first inning and one run in the third inning to tie the game at three runs a piece. After two quiet innings, Texas Southern plated one run at the top of the sixth inning after CJ Castillo singled up the middle to score Noah Butler.

Incarnate Word responded back at the bottom of the frame as they plated six runs on three hits to put the game out of reach, leading 9-4. The Cardinals added two more runs at the bottom of the seventh to take the first game’s win.

Dade Hensley (1-3) took the loss for the Tigers in 0.2 innings pitched as he was tagged for five runs on three hits. He also struck out one and walked one.

Braden Berry (1-0) picked up the win in 1.1 innings pitched as he only gave up one run.


Game 2: UIW 6. TSU 0
The Cardinals plated six runs on eight hits as the three Tigers made bat-to-ball contact including Jessie Herrera, lll, Jason Lazo, and Nin Burns, ll. Alford Dalton (0-4) took the loss for the Tigers in 5.0 innings pitched as he was tagged for six runs on eight hits. He also walked three and struck out four Cardinal batters.

Isaiah Zavala pitched an entire nine innings for UIW, striking out 13 and walking one.

Game 3: UIW 11, TSU 4
After an exchange of runs in the bottom of the second and the top of the third, Incarnate Word would add two more runs at the bottom of the fourth and three more at the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.

At the top of the sixth, Castillo doubled to left center and scored on Lazo’s single to left center. Jones came up to bat next and hit hit second homer of the season to left field to bring in Lazo with him. This would be the last time the Tigers would score.

Josiah Castro started on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings for the Tigers as he was tagged for seven runs, while walking three and striking out two.

Dave Johnson picked up the win for the Cardinals in six innings, giving up four runs, while striking out five.
