HOUSTON – The heavy rainfall and severe flooding that impacted Houston as a result of Hurricane Harvey has forced the cancellation of Texas Southern University's soccer and volleyball matches that were scheduled for the Labor Day Weekend.

The Lady Tigers soccer team was scheduled to visit Stephen F. Austin on Friday, Sept. 1, and return home to host Abilene Christian on Sunday, Sept. 3. Both matches have been cancelled. The team's next scheduled match is Thursday, Sept. 7, when the Lady Tigers host Lamar at TSU's Durley Stadium.

The volleyball team was scheduled to travel to Beaumont to participate in the Cardinal Classic this weekend. However, the aftermath of this week's storm also forced Lamar University to cancel its event.

The Lady Tigers volleyball team is scheduled to return to action Friday, Sept. 8, when the team participates in the Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The recent weather events affected all TSU sporting events. The marquee Labor Day Classic football game between the Tigers and Prairie View A&M at BBVA Compass Stadium was postponed, and will be played on a to-be-determined date over Thanksgiving weekend.
