Four Tigers scored in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as the Texas Southern men’s basketball team fell 82-71 to Tarleton on Tuesday in the College Insider Tournament inside Wisdom Gym.

Texas Southern (16-17 Overall, 12-6 SWAC) was paced by Jaylen Wysinger and Deon Stroud who each posted 18 points and six boards. Kenny Hunter followed with 15 points and six boards, while Jonathan Cisse chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

Tarleton (24-9, 16-4 WAC) was led offensively by Lue Williams who posted a game-high 21 points, followed by Jakorie Smith with 16 points.

The Tigers jumped out to a 9-6 start with 13:53 to go in the first period, but Tarleton used an 15-2 run over the next five minutes to lead 21-11. The Texans kept a 10-point lead going into three break, 36-26.

The Tigers closed in on the Texans to open the second half as Stroud and Hunter hit back-to-back buckets from behind the arc. A layup by Cisse with 18:07 remaining closed the game to a two point deficit with TSU trailing, 36-34.

Down the stretch, the game was tied at 58 each with six minutes left after a three-pointer by Wysinger. The 15-4 run capped by a tre from Williams would put the game away for good as the Tigers could not shake the 11 point deficit.
