MISSOULA, Mt. – The Texas Southern University soccer fought through a physical contest against the University of Montana in a 6-0 defeat Friday.

The Grizzlies came out strong on the offensive end with three early goals within the first 25 minutes of the match.

The Lady Tigers held their own on the defensive end as they had nine total saves throughout the match. Graduate student Oriana Palacios had five saves in the match while fellow goalkeeper Jaidyn Christophe had four saves, respectively.

Two additional goals were scored in the first half by the Grizzlies with the final one scored in the 61st minute of the second half.

Sophomore Sammie Garcia and freshman Kaila Smith attempted to serve rebuttals with shots on goal at the 57th and 80th-minute marks.

The Tigers continue their non-conference leg Friday, Sept. 17 as they take on Texas A&M-International in Laredo, Texas at 7 p.m.
