CONFERENCE NEWS AND NOTES:

- Prairie View A&M’s Michael Prejean, Alabama State’s Santina Williams and Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Miles Dortch and Sireta Roach have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their outstanding performances in competition during April 8-9. Prejean, Dortch and Roach combined for four wins, and Williams lowered her conference-leading marks in two events en route to three top-4 results this past weekend.

- The SWAC continues to test its mettle against top-tier competition, and this weekend will be no different as Texas Southern heads to Austin, Texas for the Texas Invitational and several Alabama State athletes will participate in the Mt. SAC Relays, one of the most well-regarded meets in the country.

- Arkansas-Pine Bluff returns to Central Arkansas this weekend, this time for the UCA Open. In their season-opening meet at the UCA Relays, Dortch won the javelin throw competition and Roach won the shot put event in convincing fashion, with Roach setting a personal best and meet record in her event.

- A few SWAC athletes continue to hold strong in national performance lists, as Jackson State’s Bentrell McGee (110h; 10th) and Grambling State’s Jamael McTear (200m; 22nd) rank in the top 25 in the country in their respective disciplines.
