@Texas Southern 71, McNeese 55

HOUSTON, Texas - Texas Southern University's Jazzmin Parker notched a game high 35 points to carry the Lady Tigers to their second consecutive victory with a 71-55 final score over McNeese on Tuesday at the H&PE Arena.

Parker led TSU's (3-1-0) offensive line, shooting 51 percent from outside the paint. She went 5-of-6 from the free throw line and tacked on one steal, two assists and a pair of rebounds to match.

Morgan Simmons earned her first double double on the season for the Lady Tigers, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds. Simmons shot 3-of-5 from the field, going 4-of-4 from the free throw line and added one assist. Briana Sidney was the third Lady Tiger to score in double digits with 15 points.

In the first half, TSU went on a 7-0 run at the 15:29 minute mark to take a 11-4 lead over McNeese (2-1-0). The Lady Tigers topped the Cowgirls 29-25 going into halftime. Never looking back, TSU posted a game high 42 points after the break.

Allison Baggett scored 18 points to lead two other Cowgirls in double figures. Cecilia Okoye tallied 15 points while Alaina Verdin put up 11. NeTanya Jones posted a team best 10 rebounds, capturing three offensive grabs. 

The Lady Tigers and the Cowgirls each registered 39 rebounds during the game.​


@Alabama State 69, Mobile 57​

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Jamesha Blake and Nakiya Smith each scored in double figures as Alabama State University rolled to a 3-0 winning streak with a 69-57 victory over Mobile Tuesday night at the Dunn Loiver Acadome.

Blake added five rebounds, two assist and one steal as Taila Arrington registered six assists for ASU (3-1).

Quentori Alford scored six points, posting 11 rebounds to highlight the Lady Hornets defensive efforts.

ASU held onto the lead after the 7:05 minute mark in the first half to bring the score to 7-5. During the second half, the Lady Hornets tacked on 41 points while increasing their shooting percentage going 17-of-29 (.586) from the field.

Molly Speed carried UM (2-1) with 13 points, shooting 4-of-14 from the distance. Alicia Curry grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lady Ram, including four offensive boards.

The Lady Ram trailed 28-16 going into the locker room. UM then shot 16-of-36 in the second half, scoring 41 points, but could not recover from the first set of minutes.

The match counted as an exhibition game for UMobile.[/align]


Auburn 77, @Alabama A&M 49

NORMAL, Ala. - Alabama A&M University dropped 0-3 on the season with a 77-49 defeat by Auburn on Tuesday at the T.M. Elmore Gynasium.

Alganese Gatson and Alyssa Strickland held AAMU (0-3) to a combined 21 points with Gatson scoring 11. Strickland tied with Christyn Hooper in rebounds with three while sister Brittney Strickland locked in a team best three steals.

The Lady BUlldogs shot 30 percent in the first half, scoring 8-of-25 from  the field. In the second period, AAMU decreased the deficit, scoring 27 points, shooting 6-of-12 from outside the three point line but could not lock in the win.

Auburn (3-1) was led by Tyrese Tanner and Peyton Davis who each posted a double-double. Tanner finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the win while Davis tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Also finishing in double figures was Brandy Montgomery. Montgomery tacked on 11 points and six rebounds.

The Tiger defense forced 27 turnovers by the Lady Bulldogs in helping them earn 28 second chance points.

Auburn led 43-22 at the half and added 34 points in the second set of minutes to record the win.


@Southern Methodist 91, Mississippi Valley State 52

GARLAND, Texas - Mississippi Valley State University fell 91-52 to Southern Methodist Tuesday night at the Curtis Culwell Center.

MVSU (0-4) could not recover from the 45-25 deficit at halftime and was outscored 46-27 in the second half.

Jasmyne Sanders and Olivia Kennedy led the Devilettes in scoring with 12 points. Both players shot 4-of-10 from the field. DeRita Silas came off the bench adding 11 points and five rebounds in nine minutes of action.

SMU finished the game shooting 48 percent, while holding MVSU to a 34.5 shooting percentage. The Mustangs converted 20 Devilette turnovers into 26 points, and out-rebounded MVSU 49-31 for 22 second-chance points.

Akil Simpson carried the Mustangs with her first double-double of the season, tacking on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kiara Perry scored 14 points, reaching double digits with Keena Mays and Mallory Singleton each adding 10.​
