HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers Volleyball team has released their 2013 schedule. Texas Southern will kick off the season with the hosting of an exhibition Alumni Match on August 24 at the H&PE Arena located on the campus of TSU.
A few days later the Lady Tigers will play host to the Annual Texas Southern University Invitational on August 30-31. The teams competing in this years' tournament will be Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Southern, and Oral Roberts.
The Lady Tigers will face the University of Houston at home on September 3rd before traveling to El Paso to participate in the UTEP Volleyball Tournament (Sept. 6-7). Texas Southern will have several road matches during the following weeks including a non-conference outing versus Huston-Tillotson before traveling to New Orleans to compete in the Tulane Volleyball Tournament (Sept. 13-14).
TSU returns to the friendly confines of the H&PE Arena on September 23rd versus UT-Pan American before opening Southwestern Athletic Conference play on the road at Grambling State (Sept. 27) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Oct. 4).
While in Arkansas Texas Southern will also play a non-conference road match versus Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 5). The Lady Tigers host their first home conference game of the season on October 11th as the Grambling State Lady Tigers Volleyball teams rolls into town. The first conference meeting against Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M is slated for October 17 in Prairie View.
TSU will host Southern University (Oct. 22) and Alabama State University (Oct. 26) at home before traveling to Baton Rouge for its final conference road game of the season against Southern (Oct.29).
The Lady Tigers have three regular season matchups in the month of November versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 1), University of Texas-Pan American (Nov. 6) and Prairie View A&M (Nov. 13). The Lady Tigers last home game of the season versus PVAMU has been designated as Senior Day. The 2013 SWAC Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for November 23-24 at a site that has yet to be announced.
