CLINTON, Miss. - Four SWAC teams competed in Clinton, Mississippi with three (Grambling State, Jackson State, Southern) finishing in the top 5 Saturday at the Choctaw Open hosted by Mississippi College.
Samuel Rhodes of JSU finished 10[sup]th[/sup] running a 27:21 in the 8K. Deonte Pope and Trevor Gayten came in 11th and 12[sup]th[/sup] place respectively for GSU. Mario Martinez led the way for Alcorn.
Tieshia Alexander led the way for the Lady Tigers of Grambling. Her time of 19:36 gave her a seventh place finish. ShaNiece Pinkston paced the Lady. Jaguars for an 11[sup]th[/sup] place finish and a time 20:04 followed by Krissle Nicome and her time of 20:07.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of hosted the Crimson Classic championship at the Harry Pritchett Running Park Friday. The Southwestern Athletic Conference had three teams (Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Mississippi Valley State) to compete at the meet.
Daniel Kibet went on to lead Mississippi Valley State with a time of 26:15 in the men’s 8K. Kibet would cross the finish line 65[sup]th[/sup] out of 187 runners. Felix Kiprop would be the next to finish among SWAC runners. His time was 27:09.
Joyce Chumo had a solid performance in the women’s 5K race. Her time was 17:49 which gave her a 19[sup]th[/sup] place finish out of 210 runners of the day. Alabama State’s Paige Rankin and Artrailia Lesane both had solid days as well. They completed the event with times of 18:16 and 18:19 respectively.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Prairie View A&M University hosted its annual Clifton Gilliard Cross County Invitational Thursday afternoon with the men's and women’s teams outlasting Texas Southern in the dual competiton.
The Panthers captured the meet with 23 points with five top-ten finishes in the 8K. The Tigers notched 33 points placing four among the top ten.
Sorone Batiste led the way for the Panthers with a first-place finish of 27:26. He was followed by teammate Abel Simie with a run of 28:03 for second overall.
TSU's Isaac Romero placed third after crossing the line at 28:13.49 and John Watkins finished with a time of 28:36.78 as the Tigers top runners.
On the women's side, Martha Bustamante and Constance Jacob led the way for PVAMU in the 5K event. The Lady Panthers totaled 23 points for the win and TSU followed with 36.
Bustamante earned a time of 19:19 for first overall with Jacob adding a placed second place run of 19:50.40 for the Lady Panthers. Kelsey Phillips ended the competiton as the Lady Tigers top runner closing the meet in third with a time of 20:02.96. Tierra McGowan finished in in fourth-place at 20:24.
