Women’s Golf Returns To The Links

GULF SHORES, Ala. – After a month-long hiatus due to the cancellation of their second tournament, the Texas Southern women’s golf team returns to the links this week as they compete in the Gulf Shores Collegiate Invitational hosted by the Black College Golf Coaches Association.

Freshman Kennedi Lee secured the individual win for the Tigers with her 156 total following her 4-over 76 opening round at the inaugural Clearview Althea Gibson / Renee Powell Invitational in Canton, Ohio. Junior Ashlie Hobbs was one stroke back in second place and Lyla Vaughn finished third respectively.

“The women’s team has been hard at work over the last few weeks,” head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. “They are enjoying the opportunity.”

The Tigers tee up for day one of the Gulf Shores Collegiate Invitational Monday at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 am.
