Women’s Golf Concludes Play At UTRGV Invitational

McALLEN, Texas – The Texas Southern University Women’s Golf team completed their final round of play in the UTRGV Invitational on Tuesday.

As the Lady Tigers competed as individuals, Freshman Lyla Vaughn was the top scorer for the team. Vaughn overcame a rough start and had an opportunity to move up the leaderboard entering the final round after closing out round two tied for the fourth-lowest score of the round by shaving off eight strokes for a 74. However, she couldn’t match her previous performance in Tuesday’s finale.

“Our girls had spurts of great play this week,” Texas Southern assistant golf coach, Mia Campbell said. “I look forward to seeing how the girls progress as we get back into preparations for future tournaments.”

Texas Southern men’s and women’s golf will look to keep the momentum going this weekend where they will compete in the Panther Relays Spring Collegiate Invitational hosted by Prairie View A&M at Sterling Country Club in Houston, Texas.
