Women’s Golf Climbs Up Leaderboard Following Day 2 Of PGA Works Collegiate Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Texas Southern University women’s golf team came together to move up to sixth place at the end of the second round of the 2022 PGA Works Collegiate Championship.

Graduate Rev Alcantara ascended the leaderboard to a 12th-place tie following her 8-over round giving her a two-day total of 160 (82-78). Freshman, Dilin Sitanonth is one stroke back and tied for 14th on 16 (84-77). Sophomore Lyla Vaughn and Freshman Kennedi Lee each posted a 7-over round of 79.

 ”I expected better play today and I am excited about the total team effort. I am hopeful that we finish strong in our final women’s round of the season,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said.

The men’s team endured grueling conditions in their second-round as they now sit in sixth place. Junior Devansh Chadha’s two-day total of 148 (70-78) has him tied for 11th while Freshman William O’Connor is one stoke back on 149 (70-79) and tied for 13th

“The course ‘ate us alive!’ The experience provided some teachable moments for our program. I expect us to play well tomorrow,” Dr. Grandison concluded. 

  The final round of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship will commence Wednesday with an 8 a.m. start at the Union League Liberty Hill and The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale of the historic Union League of Philadelphia.
