Watson Posts Personal, SWAC Best Throw At UAB Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Taylor Watson posted a personal and SWAC-best throw in the weight throw while Nikole Haroon ran the second-fastest 400-meter time in the SWAC as the TSU women’s track team competed at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational last weekend.

Watson finished third overall in the event as she threw 56-5.75 feet on her fourth attempt for a personal best. On her second attempt, she surpassed the 56-foot mark for the first time ever as her mark improved by six feet from the previous meet. Fellow thrower Christelle Nintcheu placed fifth in the same event with a throw of 50-6.25 while also placing fifth in the shot put with a length of 42-2.75.

Haroon placed second overall in the 400 with a time of 56.41 as it was her second-fastest indoor time of her career. Ironically, Haroon’s fastest indoor time in the 400 was at the same location in last year’s SWAC Indoor Championship. Haroon also competed in the 200 and finished sixth in a time of 25.17.

Briana Creeks placed fourth in the 800 (2:24.63) while Emily Condon posted the SWAC’s third-fastest time in the 5,000 (21:01.43). T’Nia Sample jumped 36-5 to finish seventh in the triple jump. Tajia Paddio advanced to the finals of the 60-meter dash and finished eighth with her fastest time in the semifinals.

The Tigers are back in action Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the University of Houston for the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational.
