Volleyball Splits Day 1 Of SWAC Cluster

JACKSON, Miss. – The TSU volleyball team split a pair of matches on the first day of the SWAC Cluster in Jackson, Miss.

JACKSON STATE 3, TSU 0
Jackson State used early runs in all three sets which propelled them to a 3-0 win over TSU in the opener.

JSU jumped out to a 5-3 lead in set one and scored three straight to move ahead 8-3. TSU cut the deficit to 8-5 and 9-6 but five TSU errors set up a 6-2 JSU run TSU couldn’t recover from en route to a 25-13 decision. TSU led early in set two on several occasions but an 8-7 TSU lead quickly turned to an 18-9 deficit after a JSU run. The hill was too high to climb as JSU claimed set two 25-12.

A 5-3 TSU lead in the final set once again turned into a 12-7 JSU lead until a kill from Erianna Murray ended the run. However, JSU put the game away with six straight points to lead 18-8 as once again, TSU couldn’t make up the points as they closed out the match 25-14.

Jada Hall led TSU with three kills while Aeris Ramsey had six assists followed by eight dogs from Kyira Porch.

TSU 3, MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE 0

Danielle Lilley had seven kills and eight digs to lead TSU to a 3-0 sweep over Mississippi Valley State in the nightcap.
