Volleyball, Soccer Travels To Prairie View A&M Thursday, Friday Night

The Texas Southern volleyball and soccer teams will have an intense weekend ahead of them as both will head to Prairie View A&M starting with Thursday’s volleyball match followed by Friday’s soccer showdown.

The volleyball team will make the short trek to Prairie View A&M for a 6 p.m. showdown tonight as they look to return to the winner’s column after splitting its past homestand against Alcorn State and Southern. TSU defeated Prairie View A&M 3-0 earlier this season and is looking for its first season sweep over PVAMU since 2016. While the rivalry means a lot, the team also has its eyes on the SWAC standings as a win would put them in prime position to shake up the standings due to the upcoming SWAC Cluster which features three teams ahead of them this weekend in Grambling, La.

Also on Monday night, the team honored three seniors during postgame in Erianna Murray, Aeris Ramsey and Jada Hall. Hall is a four-year letterwinner while Ramsey and Murray joined the program for the spring 2021 campaign.

After Thursday’s match TSU is back in action Saturday and Sunday at Grambling State for its final SWAC Cluster against Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State.

The soccer team returns to action after a bye week for its 2021 regular season finale against Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. on Friday.

TSU is coming off a home win against Mississippi Valley State on Oct. 17 and needs a win to solidify its place in the SWAC standings as they’re a game behind Grambling State and one game ahead of Jackson State.

The Tigers are looking for their first win over PVAMU since the 2017 SWAC Tournament as history says Friday’s match will come down to the wire once again. The past four matches were either decided by a one-goal margin or ended in a tie. The contest will be streamed live at the above link.
