Volleyball Heads To Jackson State For Important SWAC Cluster

The Texas Southern volleyball team is back on the road this weekend as they compete in a SWAC Cluster in Jackson, Miss. on the campus of Jackson State.

TSU opens the cluster bright and early Saturday morning with a big match against undefeated Jackson State at 9 a.m. followed by Mississippi Valley State at 3 p.m. The cluster ends Sunday at 9 a.m. against Alabama A&M.

The Lady Tigers seek to continue their three-game winning streak after defeating Prairie View A&M in an intense 3-0 match Wednesday night inside the H&PE Arena. Danielle Lilley led TSU with 10 kills and 11 digs while Aeris Ramsey had 12 assists and 14 digs. Jackson State enters the cluster with a 4-0 SWAC record while MVSU is winless at 0-4 followed by Alabama A&M’s 1-2 SWAC mark. Despite the record, TSU will have its work cut out for them as both JSU and AAMU have won six of the past seven matches against TSU.

“We have three big matches and we want to make sure we’re ready to go 100 percent for each set,” said head coach Gabrielle Floyd.
