Volleyball Drops Home Opener

HOUSTON – Tarleton State claimed a 3-0 win over the TSU volleyball team Thursday night inside the Barnett Sports Complex.

Set one followed a similar tone to previous matches as TSU was within striking distance early down 7-5 until a 3-0 run by Tarleton increased its deficit to 10-5  TSU continued to battle but Tarleton State went on a 12-2 run down the stretch to claim a 25-8 win. Set two was all Tarleton State as they would control it from start to finish en route to a 25-12 decision. 

Set three began in Tarleton’s favor early on up 6-0 but TSU finally settled down and began to play Tiger volleyball as they roared back and answered with a 9-4 run to trail 10-9. Tarleton upped its lead to 15-11 but TSU played well on both ends to knot the set at 17-all. Two TSU errors sparked a 3-0 run from Tarleton State as the lead grew to 20-17. The Tigers couldn’t keep up after the run as Tarleton closed out the match 25-19.

Danielle Lilley led TSU with four kills while Dallas Balanay-Flores added seven assists,

TSU starts SWAC play on Sunday at Alcorn State in Lorman, Miss. at 4 p.m.
