Volleyball Adds 3 Standout Athletes To 2020 Roster

Texas Southern University head volleyball coach Jocelyn Adams has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the 2020 roster in outside hitter Thalia Cordero, setter Dallas-Jorga Balanay-Flores and middle blocker Erianna Murray.

Sophomore / Outside Hitter

Pearland, Texas (College of Central Florida)

Played her freshman season at College of Central Florida…helped her team finish the 2019-20 season with a 21-6 record…finished the year with 66 kills and 146 digs…team finished No. 5 in the NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Coaches’ Poll…attended Dawson High School in Pearland, Texas and earned District 23-6A second honors as a senior…played club for HJV 18 Elite-South.
 
“Thalia is an outside hitter that has a strong frontcourt presence and can pass as well,” said head coach Jocelyn Adams. “She will be a valuable six-rotation player who will add tremendous offense to the Lady Tiger attack. Thalia is an outstanding student-athlete.”

Played on one of the top teams in the state of Nevada and Las Vegas area…led team to the 2018 and 2017 NIAA Class 4A State Tournaments and region championships..led team to a 25-11 overall mark and 10-2 league record in 2019…finished her senior season with 574 assists, 143 digs and 32 aces…had 500-plus assists in three of her four varsity campaigns…participated in the 2020 SCVA Las Vegas Classic…also played point guard on her high school’s basketball team and club for Dig This! Volleyball Club 18’s Black.
 
“Dallas is a very vocal and enthusiastic leader,” said assistant coach Gabrielle Floyd. “Her quickness to the ball and soft touch when setting will be a welcomed addition to the program.”

Guided Coffeyville Community College to back-to-back NJCAA National Tournament appearances…helped team win the 2018 NJCAA Division II National Championship with a 40-3 record…earned 2018 KJCCC Eastern Division Honorable mention…finished the 2019 season with 199 kills and 108 blocks, including 20 solo blocks…tallied 100 blocks and 175 kills as a freshman…earned a spot on the Vice Presidents’ 3.4+ Honor Roll…played club for Club ONE 18 Black.
 
“Erianna is a true middle blocker,” said head coach Jocelyn Adams. “She will add to the defensive end of the court and help guide a formidable block for the team’s front-line. Her blocking awareness will give opponents a very different look for shot selection. Erianna is an outstanding student and athlete.”
