Vaughn Shoots A Two-Over-Par Second Round At UTRGV Invitational

McALLEN, Texas – The Texas Southern University Women’s Golf team had a quick turnaround after their home tournament by returning to action on Monday in the UTRGV Invitational.

Freshman Lyla Vaughn is leading for the Lady Tigers after firing a 2-over-par 74 in her second round. Vaughn posted an eagle, two birdies, and several pars in the first nine of her second round to aid in her 74 and tied 17th individually. Rev Alcantara is currently tied 35th.

“Lyla played in control and seemed very comfortable during her second round,” Texas Southern University assistant golf coach, Mia Campbell said. “There is no doubt about the ladies’ capabilities, I am excited to see what tomorrow brings.”

The Lady Tigers conclude play at the UTRGV Invitational on Tuesday at McAllen Country Club with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
