TSU Track Teams To Run At G5 & Super 22 Invitational Friday, Saturday

The Texas Southern men’s and women’s track teams are back in action this weekend at the G5 & Super 22 Invite held at Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston campus.

11 teams are slated to participate in the two-day meet as the majority of events will be held on Friday.

Both teams have several student-athletes which rank towards the top of the SWAC standings as this weekend offers them another opportunity to move up the rankings both nationally and in the SWAC.
 
Kenneth Pree is the top men’s long jumper in the SWAC (23-10-75) while Chadrick Williams ranks second with a length of 50-2 in the triple jump followed by Christian Lewis (47-3.75). Tyrell Simms is currently ranked second in the SWAC with a time of 49.24 in the 400 while Ian Charles ranks second in the SWAC in the pole vault (13-4.25). TSU has the top distance medley relay team (10:46.36) in the SWAC while Jose Gonzalez (4:27.21) and Brian Martinez (4:34.77) rank 3-4 in the SWAC in the mile.
 
On the women’s side, Shelby Brooks ranks fifth in the SWAC in the 400 (58.96) while Briana Creeks is third in the 800 (2:21.36). Phylan Perkins has the third-best throw in the weight throw (52-3.75). In the relays, TSU’s mile relay ranks fourth (3:57.52).
