TSU Falls On The Road To Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Texas Southern dropped a 3-0 decision to Prairie View A&M Thursday night in the William Nicks Building.

Prairie View A&M would jump out to an 11-4 lead in set one but TSU fought back and closed the gap to 14-11 after two kills by Indyah Rideaux. Prairie View A&M would push its lead up to as much as five on several occasions but TSU continued to fight as Alexis Austin recorded two kills to draw within 22-19. A PVAMU kill and bad set by TSU upped the deficit to 24-19. Despite a late kill and TSU block, TSU couldn’t overcome the margin as PVAMU claimed set one 24-21.

Set two saw Prairie View A&M take an early 5-1 lead as TSU narrowed the gap to four points twice but PVAMU scored 10 of the next 12 points to secure control of the set en route to a 25-13 win.

The Tigers would lead 10-9 in set three but errors would haunt TSU after that point as the Lady Panthers went on a 10-3 run to lead 19-13. TSU would draw no closer than four points the remainder of the way as they fell 25-20.

Rideaux led TSU with seven kills and two assisted blocks while Austin and Radka Brichackova added five kills. Breyanna York recorded 12 assists and seven digs along with eight digs from Valencia Grayson.
