TSU Bowling Wraps Up Second Tournament

The TSU bowling team wrapped up its second tournament of the year Sunday at Emerald Bowl in Houston.

On Saturday, TSU opened the morning with a 202-pin win over rival Prairie View A&M as they claimed a 937-735 decision in the first traditional match. However, the team struggled to maintain the momentum with losses to Stephen F. Austin, Alabama State, Nebraska and Sam Houston State.   

During Sunday’s bracket play, TSU opened with a heartbreaker to Alabama State as they dropped two games in the match by a combined 11 pins. The Tigers moved on to face Upper Iowa and nearly battled back from a 2-0 deficit before falling 4-1-1. The Tigers closed out the tourney with a 4-1 loss to Southern.

Summer Salak was TSU’s top bowler with an average of 187.8 as she bowled two games over 200 in traditional play. Taylor Krings followed with a 185.4 while Jessyca Driver finished with a score of 180.

TSU is back in action this weekend in Jackson, Miss. at the Sonic Boom Invite. They tournament kicks off Friday and concludes Sunday.
