TSU Bowling Wraps Up Day 1 Of Tournament Action
CUT AND SHOOT, Texas – The Texas Southern University bowling team officially became the first team from the TSU campus to participate in athletic competition this season on Friday morning as they participated in the Track KAT Klash at Time to Spare Lanes.
Even though the team dropped four matches on Friday, it was an accomplishment just to be in position to compete as the team has not bowled competitively since March. In addition to the hiatus, the team had to deal with the rigors of returning to campus during a pandemic while dealing with a roster overhaul.
TSU opened the day with a 1,095-878 loss to Vanderbilt and had a bye to open the second match of Baker play. They returned to action against Sam Houston State and fell 954-723. After two hard-fought matches, the Tigers dropped a pair of close matches to Prairie View A&M (927-855) and Louisiana Tech (977-898) to close out day one.
The Tigers wrap up the tournament Saturday afternoon with five Traditional matches beginning at 8:15 a.m. TSU will face Louisiana Tech, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State and Vanderbilt.
