TSU Bowling Concludes SWAC West Roundup In 3rd Place

DALLAS – Texas Southern closed out the SWAC West Bowling Roundup in third-place after posting a 3-2 record on Sunday at USA Bowl.

Texas Southern started off the final day of the roundup strong with back-to-back wins over Southern (809-757) and previous day leader Alabama State (813-803) as Leanna Martinez bowled a 201 to lead the way in the win over ASU.

The Tigers dropped their third match of the day to Jackson State (912-844) but rebounded to defeat Grambling State (857-605). The team closed out the day against SWAC rival Prairie View A&M for an opportunity to move into a first-place tie but fell 927-858 despite freshman Cassie De La Fuente’s score of 205, which marked the highest total of the day for TSU.

Freshman Evan Smith finished her first roundup ranked seventh overall with an average of 178.4 while De La Fuente sits 13th overall with an average of 174. Amongst freshmen, Smith ranks second while De La Fuente is fifth followed by Shyanne Ciesiolka in sixth.

TSU is back in action Jan. 29-31 at the Prairie View Invitational at the ITRC in Arlington, Texas.
